Posture is often discussed as if a single ideal position exists. Research is more nuanced: there is no single correct posture, and posture alone does not reliably predict pain.
What does appear to matter is variability and capacity — how often you change position, and how well your body tolerates the demands you place on it.
Where posture is still useful
Posture assessment can be a useful clinical observation. Sustained positions, habitual asymmetries, and limited motion may contribute to how symptoms behave, and they are measurable over time.
The practical goal is not to hold a rigid position, but to move more often and build tolerance for the positions your day requires.
