Movement Breaks for Desk Workers
Simple, realistic ways to interrupt long sitting without disrupting your workday.
The most practical change for most desk workers is frequency, not intensity. Brief, regular movement is easier to sustain than an ambitious routine that gets abandoned in a busy week.
A workable pattern
Stand or walk briefly every 30 to 60 minutes. Add a few slow neck, shoulder, and hip movements through comfortable ranges. Take calls standing when that is an option.
Discomfort that persists despite reasonable changes deserves an evaluation rather than more stretching.
