Common Causes of Knee Pain
Load, mechanics, and why the hip and ankle often show up in a knee conversation.
Knee pain is frequently a load-tolerance problem: the demand placed on the joint exceeded what the surrounding tissue was prepared for. Mechanics at the hip and ankle influence how that load is distributed.
What to do
Reduce aggravating load temporarily rather than stopping all activity, then rebuild progressively. Swelling, instability, locking, or an inability to bear weight should be evaluated promptly.
