A few widely shared studies have looked at whether specific chiropractic interventions can influence blood pressure. The picture is more nuanced than headlines suggest.

Blood pressure is influenced by many factors — genetics, sleep, stress, hydration, activity, diet, medication — and any conservative intervention should be understood in that context.

Research note

A careful read

The often-cited Bakris et al. pilot study examined a specific upper-cervical technique in a small sample and reported changes in blood pressure. It is a pilot study, not a definitive answer, and larger trials are needed.

What we tell patients

We do not treat blood pressure. Any changes in blood pressure management belong with your primary care physician. If our care contributes to reduced stress, better sleep, and more movement, that may support your overall cardiovascular health.
