When Symptoms Require Medical Evaluation

A short list of signs and symptoms that should be evaluated by a physician promptly, regardless of any chiropractic care.
Certain symptoms warrant prompt medical evaluation — for example, loss of bladder or bowel control, progressive weakness or numbness, saddle-region numbness, severe pain after trauma, fever accompanying spinal pain, or sudden severe headache unlike any before.
When a presentation includes any of these, medical evaluation comes first. Referral is part of responsible chiropractic practice.
