Graded return principles: how to rebuild capacity without repeatedly flaring symptoms.

Complete rest is rarely the best plan. Most musculoskeletal recovery benefits from progressively loading tissue at a level it can tolerate, then increasing as tolerance improves.

A practical framework

Choose a starting load you can handle comfortably, progress in small increments, and judge progress across days rather than minutes. Symptoms that worsen consistently, or new neurological symptoms, mean it is time to be reassessed.
