Headaches and the Neck
How neck structures can contribute to head pain, and what a cervicogenic pattern looks like.
Some headaches involve structures in the upper neck. These are often described as starting at the base of the skull, affecting one side, and changing with neck position or sustained postures.
Important distinction
Not all headaches are neck-related. Sudden severe headache, headache with neurological changes, fever, or after head trauma requires prompt medical evaluation.
